Life in Madrid: You’ve been TEFL’d

Things my TEFL course emails us……

This week has been a total whirlwind. Between final projects, exam stress, and our last two teaching practices I feel like I’ve barely had time to breathe.

It was all worth it though because I made it through, and am proud to say that I am officially a certified TEFL teacher!

I took ZERO photos on our nights out… but I took like twenty pictures of our afternoon beers

It felt like there was a reason to celebrate literally every night this week. Monday we turned in our final project, Wednesday EVERYONE passed the final exam, and then on Friday we GRADUATED.

I graduated twice in one summer, so I’m feeling preeeeeeetty smart! (and really humble too, obviously)

This whole weekend was full of fun and celebrations. Friday, our course hosted “Noche de Copas”, where we all started at one bar with our teachers and classmates and from there we went out all around the city. I ended up in a super fun club surrounded by only Spaniards, with nobody from my program in sight…. Still not sure how that happened, but my newfound Spanish friends and I had a blast.

REAL BRUNCH! I’ll do anything for a pitcher of mimosas. (Notice Ashleigh in the back there)

Sunday, we went to a real live American brunch at a new restaurant called Opalo. This involved bottomless mimosas and chicken and waffles and mac and cheese. I would highly recommend it. I hadn’t had brunch in over a month, so this completely made up for that.

Up next is the job hunt. Nothing can really prepare you for the feeling of being unemployed in a foreign city, but for now I’m pushing that thought aside and heading to Italy for five days!

Many thanks to these guys for sitting with me & putting up with me all month!

I think that I am still in shock that the course is all over. I spent the last four weeks almost entirely at TtMadrid, studying and hanging out with 28 of the coolest people. I couldn’t have made it through Tt without my classmates or our amazing teachers, and it stresses me out to think that I won’t be seeing them all day everyday anymore… I guess brunch will just have to become a tradition!

  1. Yeah on graduating and double yeah on hanging out with Spaniards. The more you hang with them, the better your changes of improving are. 🙂
